Our mother was a blazing light on the face of the earth; beautiful and brilliant; fierce and strong; feisty and funny. Her steely nascent personality was forged in fire as she was raised as one of four daughters by her young, widowed mother. She was tirelessly devoted and loving to her husband and her family. She was passionate and loyal in her commitment to her community and her faith with a special love and affinity for the Blessed Virgin Mother. She attended Mass daily at St. Eugene’s Parish assisting as lector for many years, was a long-standing member of the Catholic Women’s League, volunteered at nursing homes and brought the Holy Eucharist to shut-ins. She tirelessly advocated for the rights of the unborn and was well-read and informed. Her desire to confidently voice her beliefs allowed her to participate in various forms of the media, speaking with former Canadian political leaders, Presidents and Governors. One of her most satisfying moments was having the opportunity to walk with and speak with Mother Teresa.

Despite adversity and unimaginable tragedy, she triumphed and taught us all to keep our heads high and celebrate the joy in life and family.

Thank you to the numerous care providers who have helped us in this journey.

Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1919 King St. E. (Between Rosedale and Cochrane) on Monday December 30, 2019 from 6-9 p.m. and Tuesday December 31, 2019 from 1-5 p.m. with vigil prayers at 2 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Eugene Roman Catholic Church (at the corner of Queenston Rd. and Parkdale Ave) on Thursday January 2, 2020 at 9 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Rest in Peace our beautiful Elizabeth, after a long life, well lived. Fly high with the angels - but please guard and protect us.

“See you later... when your hair is straighter, Love Ya!”
