NIEWLAND, Barend “Ben”
Passed away peacefully with his children by his side at the Juravinski Hospital on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the age of 101. Predeceased by his wife Martha (nee van Eck), whom he loved dearly for more than 6 decades. Loved by his sons Hank (Brenda) and Jack (Roz), grandchildren Jason (Linda), Scott (Kristyn), Michael (Maria), Meaghan (Dan), David (Julie), Kevin (Stephanie), Michael (Megan), and 12 great-grandchildren.
Born in Holland, Ben was proud of his accomplishments as a train engineer as well as a crane operator in Rotterdam and also at Stelco. He was a lifetime member of the Westdale Reformed Church, an avid bowler, gardener and dog lover.
