Condolences

Condolence From: Joan Mortin
Condolence: Lois Ann was a very special and complex person. I had the joy of working with Lois Ann for a time at the Henderson Hospital. She was a very committed nurse not only to her patients but also to her profession. I have never encountered anyone with such knowledge and skill in wound care. Lois Ann worked hard for her education over her lifetime. She was eager to share this knowledge with others in order to more fully care for patients. Lois's love for her big chunky jewellery - real stuff, not fake - was only surpassed by her love of her cats. I would listen, on end, over our restaurant dinners, to the tales and escapes of these cats. One in particular, was a lost and found cat that wandered into her home. He was very frightened of people and so Lois Ann thought it only normal that she grant him the total run of her entire basement. She did not even charge him rent!

Lois Ann contributed in her quiet, hard-working way to the health and well-being of many seniors and elderly people in the Hamilton area. A fine tribute to one's life. She was a great friend and had a wonderful sense of humour.

Best wishes, Lois Ann, on your next journey. Say hello to my husband.

Condolence: Lois Anne, thank you for the memories we have shared on The Terrace where you were my educator and wound care nurse in the late 1980's and early 1990's. We had many good times. We laughed a lot that we had many belly aches from it.
Your encouragement and role modeling has made a profound impact on my career as a nurse and preceptor. Your knowledge in gerontology was something I admired most about you.
I am so glad we met again last year when you were my patient on my ward. The laughter and good times continued once more. It was then that I could tell you in person that I did go back to school. You were so proud of me.
I lost one of my greatest mentors today.
