Condolence: I cannot find words to express my grief.

I will forever remember fondly Uncle Toddy, his ever cheerful attitude towards life and child-like enthusiasm with which he brought alive even the most boring of occasions. Our New Year’s party was a blast with you !

May his soul rest in peace and give strength to his family to overcome such a great loss.

Condolence: Our deepest condolences go out to you Auntie Merl, Darrell, Rachel, Daniel and family.

When I think of uncle Toddy, I think of him forever smiling, telling a joke, and calling me a “silly goomba”. I also think of his elephant paintings. I was always amazed by his ability to capture the essence of such a majestic animal; they must have been kindred spirits. Like Elephants, I’ve always thought of uncle Toddy as larger than life, stoic, and having an unbreakable family bond.

I miss you Uncle Toddy, but every time I look at one of your paintings I'll see you and remember all my cherished memories of our time together.

Condolence: Fare ye well Toddy ! Gentlemen and king amongst men .
In deepest empathy with cousin Merl D'Souza nee Mascarenhas , children Darryl, Rachel ,Daniel and families and the clan Mascarenhas /D'Souza
Hard to accept how quickly this final voyage flew by ,just months after we saw you here in London ,little knowing it would be the last time.

The first sight of a longish haired Toddy in his 'saffron coloured ' 'hippy' coloured drawstring pants , circa May 1973 in front of Fernandes Guest House Calangute Goa will always remain emblazoned in one's memory .

He was 25 and in his prime . My Aunt Melvyn and Uncle William (Willy ) both deceased had invited my Dad Luciano ,Mum Joyce , brother Leo (all since deceased) and myself to visit with the Mascarenhas family ,those halcyon summer days ,when Goa and Calangute moved to the pace of a much slower drummer !

He had travelled along with his brother Anthony and Bossie ( Bosco) and perhaps others across the overland so named Hippy Trail across Turkey ,Iran, Afghanistan etc to Goa , a route that would soon become almost impossible especially after the Soviet's invaded Afghanistan .https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippie_trail

Kind and caring to a fault , humble and unassuming , yet quietly king of his own counsel and castle

Rest ye well, good Sir ! May we strive to emulate the life you lived so well

Valhalla beckons !

Condolence: Dear Auntie Merl, Darrell, Rachel, Daniel, Patricia, Sam and Anna,

Our deepest condolences. While far away, we share in your sadness and cherish our memories.

Uncle Toddy has been a towering figure throughout my life. In childhood, I fondly remember arriving after a long road-trip from Montreal to the warmth and laughter of Toddy's embrace. He was always so welcoming and kind, even when I was an obnoxious teen.

The day after our wedding, Janet's family held a get-together of family and friends. When we got their late in the morning, the house was overflowing with people, but no one noticed we had arrived. They were all focused on Toddy in the backyard with a guitar across his knee, leading them in songs. It felt like so many summer bar-b-ques in our backyard.

Last year, Toddy and Merl came to visit us in Vancouver. He immediately hugged us like it hadn't been more than a decade since we had seen each other. Meaghan, then 10-years old, was swept into his warmth and laughter.

Uncle Toddy will always be close to our hearts.

Love,
Stephen, Janet and Meaghan
