Obituary for Maureen Ann Walsh

Walsh, Maureen Ann

Peacefully on Friday, August 3rd at St. Joseph’s Hospital, in her 88th year. Predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Helen Walsh (O’Grady), by her brothers Fr. John, Fr. Lawrence, and Thomas, and by her sister Frances Osbaldeston. Survived by her sister Norma Walsh, her brother Paul Walsh (Marilyn), and several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. Maureen was an avid bridge player and enjoyed many hours at the seniors’ centre of the YWCA. She enjoyed classical music, travelled extensively and was a dedicated employee of Westinghouse Canada for over 35 years. She was a lifelong, active parishioner of the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King where she served as a lector for many years. Maureen was a kind and generous relative and friend and will be missed by all who knew her. At Maureen’s request, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 7 East Avenue South, on Tuesday, August 7th from 2-4 & 7-9pm with special prayers at 3pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King on Wednesday, August 8th at 11am. Burial to take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations in Maureen’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Hamilton & Halton, St. Joseph’s Villa, Dundas, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
