Obituary for Barbara Marratto

Marratto, Barbara Ann (nee Shields)
August 27, 1931 - July 28, 2018

Passed away peacefully, in her 87th year at St. Joseph’s Hospital with all her loved ones near. Beloved wife of the late Reginald Louis Marratto, and the most dearest mother to Wendy (Jerry) Mariani, Gary (Lisette) Marratto, Paul Marratto, Sherry (Brian) Bird and Brad (Paula) Marratto. Barbara was a cherished grandmother to Holly Mariani (predeceased), Sarah (Jake) Zelsman, Meghan (Amanda) Francis-Bird. Sadly missing their Nanny are her great grandchildren, Cristiano, Mia, Jase and Lennon. She is predeceased by her sister Norma and brother Donald. Deeply saddened are her brothers and sisters in law and the dozens of nieces and nephews that she left behind. Barbara was a member of the Pilots Club for over 20 years and enjoyed the lasting friendships she made there as well as doing her service to the community. She was the sweetest, most caring and loving lady with a sense of humour and always a kind word to say and a smile on her face. She leaves behind a better world having lived and loved her lifetime here. She was definitely a blessing to us all. We rejoice that she is now reunited, after 28 years with the love of her life, husband Reg. We know she will be overjoyed to see her family members and especially her long overdue reunion with her besties, Doris and Donna. We are selfish to want you back, Mom but so happy that God will take your hand and lead you to your eternal home with Him. We will miss you so much but rejoice a life that was so precious to us all. We will tell the stories, share the memories and it will be like you were always here. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital, especially Magda, I.C.U. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME (796 Upper Gage Ave.) on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with prayers at 3:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Regina Mundi Parish (631 Mohawk Rd W.) on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Community Living would be appreciated.
