Obituary for Celestine Grace Nugent (Duffy)

Celestine Grace Nugent (Duffy)
Nugent, Celestine

Passed away peacefully on November 17, 2016 at Macassa Lodge at the age of 83. Beloved wife of the late John Nugent. Loving mother of Sean (Cindy), Michelle (John), and Tim (Lisa). Loved Nana of Graeme, Carleen, Evan, Kaileigh, Kate, Lauren, Cheryl, Apryl, Andrew, and Melodie. Dear sister in law of Catherine Duffy, Barb Smith (Gerald), Tom Nugent (Pat), Brian Nugent (Marian), Karen Aimes (Andy), and Anne Martin (Larry). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Edward and Grace (née O’Sullivan) Duffy, by her sister Mary Duffy, and by her brothers Fr. Fergus Duffy, and Paul Duffy and by her sister in law Eileen Burns(Pat). Celestine loved to shop and never forgot to take time to please her sweet tooth. She was always ready to pick up and go, whether it be to Rockwood or Russia, with her sketching companion in tow. She had a passion for antiques, knitting and quilting. She will always be remembered for her keen sense of humour and quick wit. But above all was her never ending devotion to her family, from being a caregiver for her parents to always being there for support for her children and grandchildren. Special thanks to Macassa Lodge for their loving care. Visitation will be held at the P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave. on Sunday November 20 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be held at 3:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 63 Highway 20 East, Stoney Creek (Elfrida), on Monday November 21 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
