Obituary for William Stanley "Bill" Edgecombe

Peacefully at Macassa Lodge, on Monday, June 16, 2014, William Edgecombe in his 96th year. He is predeceased by Patricia (née Radigan), his loving wife of 39 years. Left to cherish his memories are his daughters Patricia Balfour (David), and Nancy Evans (Glenn Giles). Loved grandfather of St. Clair (Ann Marie) Balfour, Laura (Eric) Padden, Mike Evans, Dan (Alison) Evans, and Amanda (Nick) Termini, and great grandfather of Noah, Eli, Owen, and Leah. Dear brother of Marion McLean, and predeceased by his siblings Jack, Ken, Grace Wilson, and Bernice Johnson. Dear brother in law of Joseph Radigan. He will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Also fondly remembered by his second wife Phyllis Huff , her family and many friends in the Belleville area. Bill was a veteran of WW II, and a long time employee of Essex Packers, and Radigan Bros. Patricia and Nancy wish to thank Catherine Huff for her continued interest in their father’s well-being after his return to Hamilton. They would also like to acknowledge the love and respect shown to their father by the staff during his stay at both Orchard Terrace Retirement Home, and Macassa Lodge. Cremation has taken place. A visitation will take place at the P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 7 East Ave. S., on Tuesday, June 24, from 6 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 25 at 11 a.m., followed by Urn burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Bill’s life following interment at the Tamahaac Club, 164 Filman Road, Ancaster at 1 p.m. Memorial donations to either the Lung Association or Firestone Respiratory Clinic at St. Joseph’s Hospital would be appreciated by the family. www.dermodys.com.
